Mrs Lisa died in 1910, By the end of the century a high proportion were skilled or semi-skilled laborers or had trades. Moreover, these immigrants were greatly aided by the Irish American infrastructure that awaited them. While life was still harsh for most immigrants, the parochial schools, charitable societies, workers' organizations, and social clubs aided their entry into a society that still frequently discriminated against Irish Catholics. Furthermore, the influx of even poorer southern and eastern European immigrants helped the Irish attain increased status.

In the twentieth century immigration from Ireland has ebbed. After World War I Irish immigration to the United States was high. After Congress passed legislation limiting immigration during the 1920s. These have been mainly young, well-educated individuals who have left an economically troubled country with one of the highest rates of unemployment in the European Community (EC).

David’s family had 2 children, his son is Steven (was born in 1912)  and his girl is Julie (was born in 1914). David, his wife Diana  and their children continued to live in New York. His occupation was listed as a businessman. They became richer, their children went to school in N.Y and they had a good life with modern conditions, they had a large villa in suburbs of New York. They created new jobs for unemployed in local by hiring labor worker to plant potatoes, corn, millet, alfalfa, winter wheat, rye, and sweet clover in their own farm. David’s family was loved by people around them. After Steven and Julie graduated from high school, David allowed them to enter to University. When Steven 18 years old, he stayed away from home and lived alone in Washington, beside he went to school everyday, he also got a part-time job to earn much money, he did not depend on parent’s help. And he wanted to get an engineer.(1)

About Julie, she liked her brother too, she moved to Washington D.C to study in an University. She wishes she would be a Doctor. She lived with her friends in an apartment. In 1942,She graduated from University and she got married with a classmate John, he was an American. They worked together in a hospital in Washington D.C. While her brother got married with a girl who was born in Ireland and immigrated to Boston in the same time. Mr David and Mrs Diana still lived in N.Y with their work until they become elderly.

By 1924, Irish American politicians began to attract national recognition with the nomination of Al Smith (1873–1944) as the first Catholic presidential candidate. In 1960, complete Irish acceptance was finally achieved with the election of President John F. Kennedy. During this time, the Irish also started to achieve success in business, and the professions.

The 1970s and 1980s, the Irish were the best educated and highest-paid in America. Steven and Julie early become successful people. With the help of Irish American businessmen and its membership in the European Union, Ireland emerged in the 1990s as an economic powerhouse, dubbed the "Celtic Tiger."(2) Both Steven and Julie wanted their son would study in business. Thus, Steven’s son became a businessman and he had a family in Washington D.C with his parents Mr/Mrs Steven. In the same time, Julie’s son got married with an Irish – American girl and their family came back to N.Y to continue to work as a dairyman.

When David was 20 years old, he lived with his mother in New York. David and Lisa were peasants, but they few had the money to purchase land or had sufficient skill and experience. Irish and Irish-Americans were among the increasing European and European-American population of Washington during the years 1846-1890.David and her mother turned to mining or business related to mining, lumber, or transportation. His dream of wealth became a reality in 1890 just 10 years since David started his jobs. Lisa and her son became one of rich Irish – American people. She wanted her son got married with an Irish – American girl, David followed by his mother’s idea so he married with Diana – a lovely girl was born in another Irish family, she immigrated with his mother to the U.S. in 1847 David’s family began from that.

David and his wife were helped by Diana’s father so they became successful dairyman, David’s family were at the center of the town's social life. In the year of 1900, David and his wife Diana also filled traditional occupations of unskilled workers such as domestic service and mining, but many achieved rapid financial and civic success. Together with successful of David, Lisa became one of the city's most generous philanthropists before she died because of her illness. Lisa was very pleased with the success and happiness of her son.(*)

Of course, nobody from Ireland immigrated to the United State became richer. In the 1900 census there were still hundreds of thousands of Irish immigrants living in poverty, mostly in urban slums. But economic circumstances were improving for a significant proportion, and the Irish, as a group, were gaining footholds in the workplace, especially in the labour or trade union movement, the police and the fire service. JONAS LISA was born in 1836 in Jonas Family in Ireland and the story begins with 34 million Europeans immigrated to the United States between 1824 and 1924. A primary reason was the Industrial Revolution. To begin this unit, we will see how farmlands in Europe were being reduced and farmers, craftsmen and laborers were living in poverty. These European people believed that the United States was truly a land of opportunity and were willing to change their whole way of life to take advantage of the opportunities. The Potato Famine caused a mass exodus of Irish citizens including the Jonas Family.
Her father decided to leave Ireland and move to America to fine new jobs and start with a new life. (1)

In 1850, when Lisa was 14 years old, her family lived in New York. Their life was not easy, they were in a crowed house without  indoor plumbing or running water. They were faced with so many problem such as money, food, clothing for their family. After that, Lisa's father  found only the lowest unskilled jobs available. He were hired for low-paying, physically demanding and dangerous work. Wages for unskilled jobs during the 1860s were under 75 cents a day for 10-12 hours of work. She also found a job to help their parents, her father built canals, railroads, streets, houses and sewer systems, her mother worked on the docks or canals. (2)

When Lisa was 20 years old she worked on a piecework system. They were paid between 6-10 cents a shirt and worked about 13-14 hours a day. At the age of 25 She worked hard until she got married with an Irish men who older than her 5 year old . He was called Marc.
She continued her life with a new family, In New York City, during the Civil War, Lisa's parents was killed. She and her husband worked as slaves. Because of their children's life, they had to make money throughout the period of war. 2 years after her parents died, her husband  joined the Union army. Lisa and her son ( his name is David)became worse, poor facilities, did not have enough money to spend their life while David need to study. She found all jobs that she could do to make money to get her son to go to school.
In the year of 1876, Lisa got a letter said that her husband had died in war. She went on the life with her son and she did everything that she possible to earn money by labor working.
There was very deep prejudice against Irish-Americans during the 19th century, especially as more immigrants came into the United States. Many Americans considered the Irish as dirty, stupid and lazy. Newspaper cartoonists often contributed to this image by drawing Irishmen as looking like apes with a jutting jaw and sloping forehead.
Americans also blamed the Irish immigrants for causing economic problems. They felt that the great numbers of Irish workers would put Americans out of work or lower wages. Americans felt that the increased number of people would mean taxes would rise due to additional needs for police, fire, health, sanitation, schools and poorhouses.

By the time, the Civil War ended in Confederate, the Civil War proved to be the costliest war ever fought on American soil, with some 620,000 of 2.4 million soldiers killed, millions more injured and the population and territory of the South devastated.(3)
